Which Phone Number Is Used To Send Text Messages?

Answer: There are four separate phone numbers the system looks for: two from the Booking (Mobile and Home) and two from the MP (Mobile and Home). The system looks for these numbers in the sequence below, then sends a text once a number is found:

  1. Look for the Booking Mobile number first. IF the Booking Mobile number field is populated, THEN send a text message to this number.
  2. IF the above is not populated, THEN send a text message to the MP Mobile number
  3. IF the above is not populated (or doesn’t exist), THEN send a text message to the Booking Home number
  4. IF the above is not populated, THEN send a text message to the MP Home number.

Further explanation:

  • If the patient: 1) hasn’t opted in via the Booking Mobile number, and 2) has opted in via their MP, then the MP Mobile number is used.
  • Important Note! In many scenarios, the patient’s Mobile phone is captured in the Booking Home phone field. For this reason, a text is sent to the Home number as an attempt to check if it was actually a Mobile. If so, great! If not, and the Home phone number was actually a landline — you’ll see the message fail as a result.
